The Franciscan Sisters of the Poor, founded in 1845 by Blessed Frances Schervier of Aachen, Germany, are a religious congregation of pontifical right, dedicated to apostolic works, approved on October 12, 1901.

Franciscan Sisters of the Poor are followers of Jesus, living as women religious with the total dedication He asks of His companions and friends. We are a part of the Church, a sign of God's kingdom present and to come.

We are members of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis. Our Gospel Way of Life is permeated with the spirit of the Rule and Life of the Brothers and Sisters of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis.

We choose to follow this way of life by public vows of consecrated celibacy, poverty, and obedience lived in community in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi and Blessed Frances Schervier.
