September 21:
UNITED NATIONS INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE

peace day

“On this international day, let us promise to make peace not just a priority but a passion.  Let us pledge to do more wherever we are in whatever way we can to make every day a day of peace.”  UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon

Around the world, Peace Activists, including many young people, are counting the days from today until September 21.  They are engaged in various daily activities to promote peace and to promote a Ceasefire around the world on September 21st.

As Sisters and Associates, let’s join and spread this positive movement for peace.  Our tradition teaches us to drive out evil by prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Here are some additional suggestions:

Do some Random Acts of Kindness.  Share some examples with each other and spread your good ideas around.

Replace negative thoughts with positive ones: St. Francis said we have to have peace in our hearts in order to have it on our lips.

Be convinced that everyone is a child of God and pray the Our Father, loving your enemies.

Write to your Mayor and ask him/her to join the Mayors for Peace, a movement started in Hiroshima and spreading around the world.  (See the web site below)

Write to your national government and ask them to observe the Ceasefire on September 21.  (See the web site below).

And pray as if all depended on you!
