This morning the prayer was prepared and led by the Senegalese participants. During the prayer we recommitted our lives to Jesus and received a small bag of yeast to symbolize this new covenant. Then, we had silent adoration in the chapel and the sacrament of Reconciliation. For lunch we traveled into Aachen and ate with other youth. After lunch we were able sing at the stage or walk around the city. We took a bus to 5:30 p.m. Mass and celebrated with Aachen’s Bishop and youth that are guests in Aachen. After dinner tonight, we had a party to thank the Sisters for their hospitality during our stay here. Each country led song and dance for the group. Everyone participated in a Brazilian dance, bubbles, line dance, YMCA, a Senegalese dance, watching and having fun with each other. Today, the most touching part was the Mass. It was very powerful for me to see people of many different backgrounds, countries, and languages, come together, and take part in one celebration of the Holy Eucharist. The music, especially, touched me deeply; it was a wonderful silent reflection time for me. I enjoyed the party very much, also. We were all enjoying each other’s company, and using the time to glorify God. ~Cassandra
Rain and sleet in the middle of August? Well, come to Aachen! This was my experience while walking with Sisters Delores and Gudrun. On our way to Mass (which was a long trek), my feet were cold, with my sandals, but it was worth it. Seeing the multitude of youth singing, praying, and dancing for the love of Jesus and Mary has filled my heart with hope for the youth of today. ~Sister Armida
