Sister Mary Madonna gives Passion Narratives to the Franciscan Volunteers During the recent Holy Week, Sr. Mary Madonna Hoying spent a day with the Franciscan Volunteers from Holy Name Province in Philadelphia and Wilmington to give them a retreat on the Passion Narratives. This is a group of young people who have finished college and give one or two years of their lives to serving the poor. (Our Sr. Karen Hartman, SFP, helps to direct young people doing similar good works for the poor, called "The Franciscans for the Poor".)
This picture shows you the volunteers, their directors and Sister with pictures of Jesus according to the differences of the four evangelists. Mark (the Sensate) shows us the down-to-earth human Jesus who dies in agony; Matthew (the Thinker) shows us Jesus as the Messiah who speaks with authority and fulfills the O.T. prophecies; Luke's Jesus is typical of the Feeler, who forgives his enemies on the cross and dies as Peace-maker; And John (the Intuitive) shows us a Jesus who is Divine and bringing us God's love." |
