Our 50th Jubilee in Brazil!
On November 13, 2010, our SFP Congregation celebrated in Jataí the Golden Jubilee of the arrival of our five pioneering Sisters in Brazil:
- Sister M. Kunigund Hellman
- Sister M. Consuelo Salazar
- Sister M. Clare Elise Quigley
- Sister M. Dietfrieda Moeckel
- Sister Anthony Marie Ferri (Sr. Margie)
This 50th anniversary of our SFP presence in Brazil, especially in Jataí, was mentioned in Parish announcements, Rádio Difusora (a local radio station) -- with an interview and live broadcast with Sr. Helena Paula.
There was a Triduum on November 10 - 12 in honor of Blessed Frances Schervier at St. Jude’s Parish led by Sisters Maria Lúcia, Júlia Rocha and Helena Paula. Many Sisters, Associates, Parish members and friends participated.
On November 13 at St. Jude’s Parish, there was a Liturgy of Thanksgiving. Father Luciano Alves de Lima presided with many people in attendance.
At the moment of thanksgiving, after communion, Sister Daniel Marie Meade presented a brief history of the 1962-2010 mission of the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor in Jataí, dedicated to St. Elizabeth of Hungary, Queen of the Poor.
We thank everyone for the harmony and serenity during the preparations for this great occasion! We extend gratitude to our Associates and benefactors for their generous contributions for meals.
We thank God for his infinite goodness and Divine Providence during the 50 years of our Healing Charism in Brazil through the many different ministries carried out by our Pioneering Sisters up until today by us all.
